Dear Reader,
Congratulations on learning more about CMS. As I learned about various CMS systems, I’ve grown convinced that Google Sites is an excellent way to get started, because it allows you to try out a variety of features that you’ll find on more advanced systems like Joomla and Drupal, requiring hardly any configuration or technical knowledge. So I think it can be a fun way to get started.
As you’ve seen, Google Sites does have some powerful capabilities, and I think that in some situations, for some projects and clients, it can be a more sustainable alternative to Drupal, so I do recommend becoming familiar with it, and keeping in mind that it’s free.
And I also think it can be a helpful tool for gathering content, prototyping, and getting other people to log in and review or change things. This could also be seen as a “staging” site, even if you end up putting material on Drupal.
Best wishes in learning CMS!
Regards,
Todd
