Introduction

The purpose of this chapter is to explore some of the ways you can add content in Drupal and related options. We’ll start by adding a page and looking at the settings you can adjust; then we’ll look at the differences with adding an article. In general, pages would be for permanent content, which describes the site itself. Articles would be ongoing content, such as news articles.

Menus are helpful to understand. Drupal 7 has a nice feature where you can automatically add a link to articles and pages as you are creating them. It also allows you to choose where the link will be. There may be some limitations in the built-in theme that comes with Drupal, in terms of how sophisticated you can get with links and menus (such as submenus appearing underneath top-level menus). We’ll look at what you can do with Drupal 7 and what works best with the built-in theme at the time of this writing.
