Linking Facebook to Twitter

I think that linking Facebook to Twitter is fun. When you do this, you can transmit posts from your Facebook page to Twitter automatically (for example, when you make a post on your Facebook page about an article that you’ve just added to your Drupal site).

Working with Tabs

To get the best results in this section, I suggest using Firefox, learning how to work with tabs, and signing into Twitter in one tab and Facebook in the other. This example also assumes that you’ve created a Facebook page. You can delete Facebook pages and unlink pages to Twitter accounts, so don’t worry if you’re just experimenting.

To get started, visit http://www.facebook.com/twitter/. A list of any Facebook pages you’ve created or that you administer will show up:

For example, I made a Facebook page for RGB, and I haven’t linked it to Twitter yet, but I certainly could. You can also edit the settings of any linked accounts and unlink from this page. The Settings allow you to control what kinds of information that is posted on Facebook will appear on Twitter.

Be Patient If Your Posts Don’t Show Up Instantly

When you’re trying this linked feature out, don’t be surprised if your posts from Facebook don’t appear instantly on Twitter, because it may take some time. (Twitter gets overloaded.) If for some reason it doesn’t work, you can always just post directly on Twitter or investigate a tool like Hootsuite at http://www.hootsuite.com.
