Before you start creating your prezumé, you should know what job you are applying for, what message you want to tell with your prezumé, and what the goal of your prezumé is.
If you already know what kind of job you're looking for, you can skip this part. If you have no idea, you should first make up your mind and think about this. So, take a break, close your eyes, and visualize what kind of job you would love to have. Here are a few things you can think about:
- Do you want to work for a small company or a multinational company?
- How many hours do you want to work?
- What do you want to do during your working day?
- Do you want to manage or do work?
- How far are you prepared to travel?
- What is your passion and what makes you happy?
When you know what job you're looking for, let's put it on paper. Follow the steps listed here:
- Grab a piece of paper, draw two lines on the paper to divide it into three parts, and write the words "JOB", "MESSAGE", and "GOAL" in the three sections.
- Start with the "JOB" section. Write down the job you are applying for, at least the job title. If you want, you can add some additional information.
- Then, write down the message you want to tell in the "MESSAGE" section. This could be "Design is my passion and I want to make it my profession."
- Finally, write down the goal you want to achieve with your prezumé in the "GOAL" section, for instance "I want the reader to contact me via e-mail to make an appointment for a job interview."
Your piece of paper should look like the following image:
We made a start with our prezumé on a piece of paper. We divided the paper in three sections and wrote down the job we want, our message, and the goal of our prezumé. Later on, when we are creating our prezumé, we should regularly look back to this piece of paper and check whether we're still on the right track.
If you don't like paper, you could complete this task in Prezi or another tool. The advantage of paper is you can stick it to your wall, so you won't forget about your goal and ambition while you're creating your prezumé. Of course, you could save your prezi as PDF and print it as well.
