Using your creativity

We already created a very simple PechaKucha. Just twenty images in a simple order and that's it. You can do more with Prezi if you want and if it adds something to your presentation. See if you can find a way to enhance your PechaKucha and make it memorable. You can watch our examples at www.prezihotshot.com.

Engage thrusters

We'll show you some different examples you can use for PechaKucha in Prezi and some ideas you can try. You can try different patterns. In the previous example, we used a grid. But you can also use the following:

  • Horizontal line
  • Vertical line
  • Circle
Engage thrusters

Besides patterns, you can also use the zooming features of Prezi for your PechaKucha. For example:

  • Zooming out at the end to reveal the last image
  • Zooming out at the beginning to have a surprising start
  • Zooming in to show details. Resolution of the pictures should be high
  • A big rotation to show the opposite (don't use this too often)

We put three examples of PreziKuchas online at www.prezihotshot.com. The first one uses a grid as explained in detail in this project. The second one uses a circle as a pattern. The third one uses a big zoom-out to reveal the last image. In this case, the last image is the heart-shaped hole in the door. All the other images are placed in a heart-shaped pattern inside that hole.

Objective complete – mini debriefing

In this task, we explained how you can use a bit more creativity in your PechaKuchas by using another pattern instead of a grid and by using other transformations like rotating and zooming. It's not necessary, but it might suit your presentation.

Note

The concept of a PechaKucha presentation is easy to understand, but you should practice before you can give a PechaKucha. Experience what it means to talk in a rhythm of 20 seconds. At first it might feel strange, but if you know your story (and you should because it's a personal story), you will notice (hopefully) it not that hard as it seems. Please don't worry too much about the 20 seconds. Don't wait for the next image if you're done with an image too early, just keep on talking. When you will be talking way too long about an image, consider splitting the image in two images or rethink your story about that particular image. To conclude, don't practice just once, practice a few times.
