Day 22

Rest Day. So how did Week Three go? Does it look like you’ll be able to reach 100 percent of your goal by the end of next week? It’s time to revisit your goal one more time and see if it is serving you the way it should. Goals work differently for different people. Some folks like ambitious goals that they can’t quite reach because it makes them try harder. Others find that this approach backfires because they always feel as if they’re not doing enough; setting a goal that they know they can achieve is much more satisfying. What type of goal-achiever are you?

If ambitious goals excite you and make you want to get up in the morning, and your Program Goal is at 75 percent or more right now, raise it. Give yourself a reason to go all out in the final week. If, on the other hand, it’s important to you that you reach every goal you set for yourself, and you’re below 75 percent right now, lower your target. This is not cheating! If you can’t win the game, there will be a piece of you that doesn’t want to play anymore. By setting a more achievable goal, you will continue to be motivated by it.

Thought for the day: Goal setting works the same way as target practice. Without a target, you don’t know what you’re shooting at, and until you start shooting, you don’t know how far off your aim is.
