THE TRACKING WORKSHEET

Your Action Worksheet is completed. You have chosen your Program Goal, one to three Success Ingredients, ten Daily Actions, and your Special Permission. It’s time to put your own personal Get Clients Now! program into action.

Your next essential tool for the twenty-eight days of the program is the Tracking Worksheet, which you will use daily to measure your progress through the program. The Tracking Worksheet is quite a magical device. You will be amazed at how much difference this one simple tool can make in your marketing!

Remember the benefits of goal-setting discussed in Chapter 3? Using the Tracking Worksheet consistently will automatically provide you with focus, evidence, direction, and motivation for your marketing. If you arrange to work through the program with a buddy, group, or coach, you will also lock in place the accountability, perspective, and support to help you succeed.

Look at Lee Greenback’s partially completed Tracking Worksheet in Figure 6-1. Each column represents a working day of the program, for which you will make daily entries like these:

image Weather Report. On a 1-to-10 scale, with 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest, how is your state of mind today? How does your body feel? This is an intuitive score; put down what you sense is correct. These numbers will go up and down from day to day, as your mood and physical condition fluctuate. This score tells you how much you should expect from yourself on any given day.

image Success Ingredients. For each of your one to three Success Ingredient projects, what percentage have you completed? If zero percent means you have done nothing thus far and 100 percent means the project is done, how far do you estimate that you have progressed along the range? This too may be an intuitive score, or for some projects you can compute it mathematically. These numbers will go up as projects move forward, but will not go down.

image Daily Actions. For each of your ten actions, did you do it today (Y) or not (N)? At the bottom of this section, record the total number of actions completed at the end of each day. This number will increase or decrease from day to day as your productivity varies and other activities require your attention.

When an action is designated as weekly (or several times per week) rather than daily, you should still score yourself for that action each day. This way you still have the possibility of scoring 10 out of 10 every day, instead of losing points just because some of your actions are weekly. You can accomplish this by giving yourself a “free Y” on any day that you carry out your plans for this action during the week.

Let’s say you have chosen the action “Go to 1 live networking event each week.” On Monday, if you planned to attend an event today and you went, give yourself a Y. If you planned to attend one today and didn’t go, you get an N. If you didn’t plan to go to an event today at all, you get a free Y, but look at your calendar now and determine which day this week you will attend one. Then score yourself each day based on how well you followed through on this intention. Going to a planned event gets you a Y, a day with no event planned gets you a free Y, and not going to a planned event gets you an N. If you don’t make up the missed event by going to another, you will get an N for that action for the remainder of the week.

Whenever you reach the end of the week and still haven’t taken a weekly action, you must give yourself an N for it on Friday. Be honest and remember—these scores are for you.

image Program Goal. What percentage of your goal have you achieved so far? Since all goals in the program must be numerical, you should be able to compute this exactly. This number will increase as your goals move forward, but will not decrease.

image Special Permission. Do you have your special permission today or not? Tell the truth. You will notice how difficult everything is on those days you don’t have it.

On Day 1 of the program, you will start filling in your own Tracking Worksheet, based on the Action Worksheet you completed at the end of Chapter 5.
