Charlie Russel and Sharon Crawford are co-authors of numerous books on operating systems. Their titles include Microsoft Windows Small Business 2003 Server Administrator’s Companion; Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Administrator’s Companion; Microsoft Windows XP Resource Kit, Third Edition; and Upgrading to Windows 98.

Charlie Russel is a chemist by education; an electrician by trade; a UNIX sysadmin and Oracle DBA because he raised his hand when he should have known better; an IT Director and consultant by default; and a writer by choice. Charlie is the author of more than two dozen computer books on operating systems and enterprise environments, including Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 Administrator’s Companion; Microsoft Windows XP Resource Kit, Third Edition; and (with Robert Cordingley) the Oracle DBA Quick Reference Series. He has also written numerous white papers and case studies on Microsoft.com and is a regular columnist for the Windows Expert Zone.

Sharon Crawford is a veteran, even grizzled, writer of computer books. In addition to the books with Charlie, Sharon co-authored (with Jason Gerend) Faster Smarter Microsoft Windows 98. Jason Gerend is a freelance author and network consultant who has contributed to over 30 books. A Microsoft MVP and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Jason was the primary writer at Microsoft for the Windows Server 2003 R2 Corporate Deployment Tools and OEM Preinstallation Kit. He co-authored the Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 Server Administrator’s Companion, the Microsoft Windows 2003 Server Administrator’s Companion, and other books with Sharon and Charlie. Jason enjoys mountain climbing, backcountry snowboarding, and installing operating systems. He’s been fooling around with PCs since the days of MS-DOS 2.0, loved OS/2 2.1 and BeOS, and been a freelance consultant and Webmaster since 1995.
