Creating a New Presentation from a Template

You've already seen how you can create a PowerPoint presentation using a content template (with the AutoContent Wizard) or a design template. You can also directly attach an existing template located on your computer, a Web server, or the http://www.Microsoft.com site:

  1. Select File, New to display the New Presentation task pane if it doesn't already display.

From the New from Template section of the New Presentation task pane, choose one of the following options:

    • A recently used template, whose name appears at the top.

    • General Templates, which opens the Templates dialog box where you can search for a template stored on your computer or network.

    • Templates on My Web Sites, which opens the New from Templates on My Web Sites dialog box (see Figure 2.9), where you can select a template on a Web server.

Figure 2.9. Alternatively, you can use a template on a Web server.

    • Templates on http://Microsoft.com, which opens the Microsoft.com Web site where you can choose a template from the Template Gallery. You can either browse through the available categories, such as Marketing or Legal, or perform a search on a keyword (like “PowerPoint”).
