RESPONSIBILITY MATRIX

A responsibility matrix is a method for identifying who is responsible for performing specific tasks. It may also identify the degree of responsibility for each task.

A responsibility matrix is no good, of course, if it isn’t distributed to the people who must do the work. It might be useful to broadcast the matrix to ensure visibility, and consequently, commitment.

The responsibility matrix offers several advantages. It engenders accountability, especially after giving everybody on the project a copy, and it improves coordination because everybody knows the responsibilities. Finally, it gives everyone visibility for their work.
