The following steps detail how to configure a universal logical router:
- Log into the vSphere web client.
- Navigate to Networking & Security | NSX Edges.
- Ensure the NSX Manager selected is Primary | 192.168.110.42.
- Click Add.
- Select Universal Logical (Distributed) Router, configure the names, and select Deploy Edge Appliance, as shown in the following screenshot, and then click Next:
- Configure the Settings options as follows and click Next:
- User Name: admin
- Password: VMware1!VMware1!
- Select Enable SSH access
- Click Add on NSX Edge Appliances.
- Select Cluster/Resource Pool and Datastore, as shown in the following screenshot and click OK:
- Review the deployment parameters and click Next:
- In the Configure interfaces of this NSX Edge pane, click Add.
- For the Name field, type Web-Logical-Switch, select Internal for Interface Type, and click Change on the Connected To row.
- Select Universal-Web-Logical-Switch and click OK:
- Type the Primary IP Address as 172.16.10.1 and Subnet Prefix Length as 24 and click OK:
- Repeat steps 10 through 13 for the Universal-App-Logical-Switch and the Universal-DB-Logical-Switch with the following options:

- Select HA Interface Configuration, select the Universal-UDLR-HA, and click OK:
- Review the configuration and click Next:
- Configure Default gateway settings, select vNIC Transit-Logical-Switch with the Gateway IP of 192.168.250.2, and leave all other settings to their default values. Click Next:
- Review the configuration and click Finish to start the deployment:
