STEP BY STEP PHOTOGRAPHIC SCREEN-PRINTING WITH MYLAR DRAFTING FILM
1
Instead of transferring the image onto acetate, the image could be drawn directly onto Mylar drafting film, a transparent film with a texture that you can draw onto in many different mediums. In this example, charcoal is used. Prepare the drawings on different sheets, as with the acetate example.
2
Place the Mylar drafting film and screen on the exposing box and expose the screen in the same way as for the acetate. Because the drafting film is very slightly opaque, it will need to be exposed for longer than the acetate.
3
Once the screen is prepared and dried, the same printing process is followed as for the other methods of screen-printing. Many of the marks and tones are picked up using this technique. It’s worth experimenting with the exposure times to get the best possible print.
