In this chapter, we had a look at the MDS applications that can be deployed to the BlackBerry Smartphone. MDS enables the BlackBerry to truly become a Smartphone by allowing administrators to deploy critical applications to the Smartphone. As we saw in this chapter, we can custom develop applications to run on the BlackBerries or use third-party applications to push on to the devices. We can then further secure the application usage on the device by using IT policies.

We were able to carry out the above tasks by using the MDS console, and downloading the appropriate MDS runtime packages for our devices.

In the next chapter, we will be looking at providing High Availability to our BES system to ensure we have continual service in case of a disaster.
