Enterprise Territory Management key concepts

Now we will explore the features and related concepts that make Enterprise Territory Management easy for you. Understanding these concepts will help you design your territories more effectively:

  • Territory type: Territory types help you to manage your territories by key characteristics significant to your company. Every territory you create must belong to a territory type. Territory types are used for organizing and creating territories only.
  • Territory: A territory contains the groups of accounts and the users who work with those accounts.
  • Territory type priority: This feature will help you choose the correct territory type for territories you create or edit. By default, there are no priorities defined, so you have to create your own priority system. For example, 001 may indicate that a territory type is the highest priority or the lowest.
  • Territory model: This represents a complete Territory Management system for your organization. It also includes a hierarchy and a list view of parent and child territories.
  • Territory hierarchy: It shows a model's territory structure. Start from the hierarchy to create, edit, and delete territories; run assignment rules for territories.
  • Territory model states: A territory model state shows whether a territory is in the Planning stage, Active stage, or Archived. Your organization can have only one active territory model at a time. The territory model's life cycle states are as follows:
    • Planning: This is the default state for every new territory model. It allows you to preview a model's territory hierarchy before deploying it.
    • Active: This is the state of a territory model after you activate it and all processing has completed.
    • Archived: This is the state of a territory model after you archive it and all processing has completed.
