If you haven’t even thought about metrics, amble on over to Chapter 1 and start reading, and I’ll get you up to speed in no time. If you’ve been measuring your efforts for a while and have a good command over where the bang for your buck is but would like a better idea of how to amplify what your metrics are telling you, head on over to Part III where I shift metrics into high gear. If Part III is old hat for you, Part V goes over some interesting business, personal, and not-for-profit stories that can help you grow as a metrics pro.

Lastly, social media itself is a living, breathing series of web applications or platforms that change from time to time. From the time I started writing this book to the time I completed it, there have been about a dozen changes in the interfaces of social media platforms, including complete layout overhauls. While everything may change around a bit, the basics of social media will likely always be the same. Once you get an idea for how the services work and how metrics integrates into them, it’ll be pretty easy for you to find anything that may have moved since the publication of this book.
