Knowing What to Look for in a Service

When shopping for a service to white label and resell, look for the following:

Website design: It doesn’t have to be Picasso, but it needs to be maintained, current, error-free, and ad-free, with clear contact information and an About page.

Testimonials: Customer testimonials from people and brands you have heard of are a good indicator of credibility.

Customer list: Not all services need to list their customers, but in this case, I recommend looking for those that do. A customer list allows you to contact customers and find out real satisfaction rates. It also allows you to see the product you’re considering in action.

Free trial period: Reputable software should offer some kind of demo or free trial period so that you can try out what they offer and make sure that it works for you.

Support: How do they support the product? Is it an impersonal FAQ or something more accessible, such as live chat, e-mail, or phone support? Bonus points if supporting your clients also via white label support is an option.

Clear cancelation instructions: Hopefully, it won’t come to this point, but it always pays to make sure that you have a clear, easy way to cancel the service if it isn’t working out for you.

Data use and privacy policy: Make sure they clearly indicate how they will use your and your client’s data, especially if they are hosting the solution for you. Make sure their privacy policy is easily accessible. Bonus points if they let you export your data to take with you upon leaving the service, or at regular intervals during your time with them.

Length of time in business: This one can be harder to find, and may require a little digging. In general, it’s best to use a company that has been in business for a while and has had time to test the product out and to build up a roster of happy clients.
