Overview

This section shows how to create a SAS dataset. A SAS dataset contains the information (e.g., independent variables, dependent variables, survey responses) to be analyzed by SAS procedures such as PROC MEANS and PROC GLM. The chapter begins with a simple illustrative example in which a SAS dataset is created using the DATALINES statement. In subsequent sections, additional guidelines show how to input the different types of data that are most frequently encountered in social science research.
