We need to create a target group to complete this recipe. We can do this by following the Creating ELB target groups recipe of this chapter and adding two EC2 instances that have Apache web server set up and have a security group that allows HTTP and SSH.

When selecting HTTPS (Secure HTTP) as the ELB listening protocol, we need an ACM certificate. We can create an ACM certificate by following the Creating an SSL/TLS certificate with ACM recipe of this chapter. If you are using the HTTP protocol, then you won't need a certificate.
