OpenVPN

The third VPN protocol supported by the current release of pfSense is OpenVPN, and it is an excellent choice if your users primarily use Linux, thanks to the excellent support for OpenVPN that most Linux distros have. It is also a good choice if you have to support mobile devices; there are clients for both iOS and Android.

OpenVPN configuration begins by navigating to VPN | OpenVPN. While in IPsec, both ends of the tunnels can be configured as peers. OpenVPN tunnels tend to have one end defined as a client and the other end as a server, even when making site-to-site connections. Thus, there are separate tabs for Servers and Clients. There are also tabs labeled Client-Specific Overrides and Wizards.
