If you want to make the process of setting up OpenVPN clients, you might consider the OpenVPN Client Export Utility. This allows you to export a preconfigured OpenVPN Windows client, or a macOS Viscosity configuration bundle, directly from pfSense.

You can install the OpenVPN Client Export Utility by navigating to Packages | OpenVPN, clicking on the Available Packages tab, and scrolling down to openvpn-client-export. Click on the corresponding Install button, and then click on the Confirm button on the next page.

Once the client is installed, there should be two new tabs on the OpenVPN page at Protocols | OpenVPN: Client Export and Shared Key Export. Shared Key Export is mainly for site-to-site connections, while Client Export is for clients connecting to an OpenVPN server.

It is beyond the scope of this chapter to provide a detailed discussion of this utility. You should, however, be aware that it is available, and that it can streamline the process of configuring different clients to connect to your network, especially if you are supporting users that use Windows and/or MacOS.
