Dashboard

You can gather a lot of information from the pfSense dashboard. When you first log in to the web GUI, the default landing page is the dashboard; you can also navigate to it from anywhere else in the web GUI via Status | Dashboard on the main menu. This dashboard contains a generous amount of information about pfSense as it runs, including the uptime, CPU usage, memory usage, the version being run, and whether an upgrade is available for the version being run. The dashboard was given a major redesign for version 2.3. Version 2.4 and higher support multiple languages. If you navigate to System | General Setup, you can choose the number of columns in the display. However, if you resize the width of your browser, the dashboard will automatically resize to a single column. This ensures that you do not have to scroll left and right. You can add widgets to the page by clicking on the plus side of the title bar; there are many widgets that make it easier to monitor your system. For example, there are widgets for gateways, CARP status, traffic graphs, load balancer status, and so on. Many packages also have their own widgets. The dashboard updates every few seconds, thus eliminating the need of reloading the page.
