When the end application using IPv6 faces connectivity issues, fault detection and isolation utility tools such as Ping and Traceroute can be used to detect or isolate the failure. When the Ping tool is used for an IPv6 address, it uses ICMPv6 messages for path diagnostics. Wireshark on one or more devices along the path can be used to capture the packets at different points for analysis.
