When performing a virtual machine recovery that is protected by using RCT technology, Data Protection Manager will attach the virtual hard disks of the protected virtual machines on the DPM server as read-only. When DPM initializes the recovery job, it relies on the VSS architecture that is part of the Hyper-V host's operating system. When the recovery operation is completed, DPM will detach the VHDX.
