In this chapter, we looked at yet more hardware that can be used with the GPIO port on the Pi and additional ways in which it can be controlled by software.

We also took a look at another application-specific operating system available for the Pi, how they can be very different to the general Raspbian OS, and how the approach to solve a problem (such as the buttons in this project) has to be changed based on the environment in which it will be implemented.

We also took a quick look at how to use laser cutting to manufacture professional quality enclosures quickly and easily. This is a very versatile manufacturing process and can be used to create some very impressive products. I would highly recommend you to consider it in any projects you may undertake in the future.

In the next chapter, we will look at how to interface the Raspberry Pi with a variety of sensors using the Arduino prototyping platform to create an outdoor weather station.
