If you can grasp these overall steps, a lot of the smaller detail when learning given
statistical methods will make a lot more sense to you! You will literally see the
same global process all throughout the world of statistics:
data→ fitting patterns → interpreting patterns through the summary mathematical models →
thinking about implications
The next section discusses a second broad template for the world of statistics: that
of statistical size and accuracy. If you can thoroughly grasp both this and the next
chapter, you will have learned much of what ties together different types of statistical
analyses, because the concepts of looking for a pattern in data, as well as the broad
strokes of interpreting the parameters and coefficients of those patterns, is common
throughout most statistical analytical techniques.
