Targets

It is very important to review your project's prediction targets. The targets are the fields of interest in the prediction. They are fields that are influenced by the other fields in the dataset. The Watson Analytics Predict capability defines default targets and field properties for you. Watson Analytics attempts to provide us with what it thinks are the fields we are interested in. Here, Watson lists Purchased as Gift, Product ID Purchased, and Dollar Amount Sold as default fields we may be interested in, based upon our dataset. These are all very good guesses, but in this project, we only care about Dollar Amount Sold, so we can click on the Delete icon to remove the other two fields:

If we wanted to add more targets, we could click on Select target. Note that you must have at least one target for any prediction and you are limited to up to five targets.

When we have finished reviewing and editing our targets and predictors, we click on the button labeled Create. A message shows the progress Watson is making as the prediction is created. When the prediction process completes, you can view the summary for the prediction and explore the output in detail.
