To proceed with our project, we need to get the data out of the Planning Analytic cube and into Watson Analytics. To do this, there are several options. First, we could use the Planning Analytics ETL tool again, this time to export data to a comma-delimited (CSV) file or, since this is an initial exploration of the process, we can also simply right-click on our cube view and select Export as Text Data...:
Note: When using Watson Analytics, you can also import data using a data connection rather than using a raw file upload such as an XLS, XLSX, CSV, SAV file. Watson Analytics offers many data connectors that can be used to import various forms of data. The list of available data connectors is ever-increasing as the development team continues to implement new connectors to suit the needs of their customers (IBM Product Documentation).
Once we have our file of data (a portion of it is shown in the following screenshot, opened in MS Excel), we can use the +Add feature on the Watson Analytics Welcome page to upload the file to Watson Analytics:
