Part IV: Networking and the Web

Linux is a true workhorse of the network server world. Red Hat Linux 6 includes many network server features that would literally cost thousands of dollars to duplicate in the commerical operating system world.

This part explains how to work with many of the more important server features built into Red Hat Linux 6. With Red Hat Linux 6, these features can largely be configured visually on desktop, rather than by editing congiguration files. Where there is a visual tool that allows you to configure a server feature, I will emphasize it as opposed to the command line configuration file method.

If you need a network or Web server, it is hard to imagine a better choice than Red Hat Linux 6.

Chapter 13: The Linux Server explains how to congigure a veritable alphabet soup of important server functions, including FTP, NFS, DHCP, and SAMBA.

Chapter 14: Apache Web Server explains how to work with Apache—the world's most widely used Web server—which ships with Red Hat Linux 6.
