How to do it...

The following procedure will guide you through the steps involved in Configuring Security, Traffic Shaping, Teaming, and Failover on a vSphere Standard Switch:

  1. Log in to the vCenter Server by using either of the following methods:
    • Use the HTML5 client.
    • From the Hosts and Clusters inventory view, select the ESXi host to create the vSwitch on.
  2. Navigate to Configure | Networking | Virtual switchesselect the desired vSwitch, and click Edit...:

  1. Use the Security section of the Edit Settings window to configure the desired Promiscuous mode, MAC address changes, and Forged transmits policies for the vSwitch: 

  1. Use the Traffic shaping section to control the Average/Peak bandwidth and the burst size of the Egress traffic:

  1. Use the Teaming and failover section to specify load balancing and other desired configuration: 

This completes the process of Configuring Security, Traffic Shaping, Teaming, and Failover on vSphere Standard Switches.
