How to do it...

The following procedure will guide you through the steps involved in running the vCenter 6.7 Migration Assistant on a source vCenter component machine:

  1. Copy the migration-assistant folder from the root of the VCSA 6.7 Installer ISO to the source PSC that needs to be upgraded:

  1. Run VMware-Migration-Assistant from the migration-assistant folder on the hard drive:

  1. During its initialization, you will be prompted for the SSO administrator password. Type in the password and hit Enter; it will start running pre-checks.
  2. Once it's done running the pre-checks, it will display the source configuration and confirm that it's ready to start the migration process:

  1. The migration assistant should continue to run until the upgrade completes. Don't close the window until it's finished doing so.
During the upgrade of vCenter Server, if you have Update Manager running on a different Windows machine, then the migration assistant needs to be running on it as well.
