Snap to Events

In some cases you may not want the object (or event) to be moved according to the grid at all. You may want your objects to snap to other objects. In this case your objects become “magnetized” to each other and stick to each other when moved. This could get really messy if you aren’t careful, so to help prevent a MIDI pileup, Cubase still snaps to the grid at measures. An example of snapping to another object would be if you wanted an object to start as soon as another object ended. If the previous note or part length doesn’t end on a beat, this is one way you could easily get the next object to fall directly after it.

Note

A MIDI event is a fancy way of describing anything recorded with MIDI. In most cases a MIDI event will be a note, but when we use the word event, it could mean anything recorded with MIDI—not just a note.
