Auto-Start/Startup and System Services

Whenever you first boot up your system, Windows and Macs automatically launch several programs. These are usually applications your computer thinks you’re going to need right away. These auto-start programs and other system services tend to stay on in the background, taking away valuable system resources for your Cubase studio. Disabling all these is not an option because Cubase requires that some of them are running in the background (e.g., the Syncrosoft license control software for your Cubase dongle).

You have to careful what you disable, but if you think you’re up to the challenge, here’s how you can do it. In Windows, open Run from the Start menu and type in “msconfig.” A window will open with various tabs. Select the Startup tab and uncheck any boxes for software you don’t need. Again, be very careful! If there is something that you don’t recognize, your best bet is to leave it alone. For Macs, check your Startup Items folder and move any programs that you don’t need at startup to another location on your computer.
