Write Behind Caching

Windows has a feature called write behind caching, which is used to buffer data before it’s actually written to disk. With Cubase, it works best when you write directly to disk. In order to bypass this, right-click on My Computer from the Start menu and choose Properties. Select the Hardware tab and Disc Drives, and then select a hard drive on your system from the list (if you have multiple hard drives, you need to do this for each of them). Right-click on the hard drive and select Properties. In the Properties window, locate and select the Policies tab. Under Policies (if it is available for your hard drive), uncheck Enable Write Caching on the Disk. Click OK. If this isn’t an option, don’t sweat it: You’ll probably be fine with your current setting.
