By signing your Business Central applications, you are providing peace of mind to your customers that the code has indeed been created by you, and that it has not been altered in any way.

Before you can digitally sign your applications, you must obtain a code signing certificate. During the development process, you can use a self-signed certificate for testing purposes, but for production-ready applications, you need to purchase a commercial certificate, which can easily be found online.

Once you have the certificate, the easiest way to sign your Business Central application is by using Docker and NavContainerHelper. The Sign-NavContainerApp cmdlet will automatically perform the following tasks for you within a Business Central container:

• Install the code signing certificate
• Install Microsoft Sign Tool
• Digitally sign the application file
