Follow these guidelines to ensure high availability:

1. Maintain at least two paths between the host and storage system for high availability. Ideally, the cabling for these paths should be physically separated.
2. Make sure that these paths are handled by separate switching if it is not directly connecting hosts and storage systems. This includes redundant, separate HBAs and attachment to both the storage system's storage processors.
3. Make sure path management software, such as PowerPath, and dynamic multipathing software on hosts (to enable failover to alternate paths and load balancing) are available.
4. Run the # esxcli storage core path list to get detailed information regarding the paths.
5. Run # esxcli storage core path list -d <naa.ID> to list detailed information of the corresponding paths for a specific device.
6. Run # esxcli storage nmp device list to lists of LUN multipathing information.
