These instructions are specific to the vSphere 6.5 VCSA installation. The 6.0 installation is done through a web page, but the steps are similar. Here are the steps to install PSC on your ESXi host:
- Download the VCSA ISO file from http://www.vmware.com/download.
- Mount the ISO file once it is downloaded.
- Using the CD, open the vcsa-ui-installer folder.
- Open the subfolder called win32. If you are running the installer on Linux or Mac, open the appropriate folder.
- Double-click on installer.exe.
- Click on Install.
- Click on Next, then read and accept EULA and click Next.
- Select the deployment type, click on Platform Services Controller under External Platform Services Controller. Click on Next.
- Enter the FQDN, login, and password details of the ESXi host where you want to deploy PSC. Click on Next.
- Enter the name and root password of your PSC and click Next.
- Choose the datastore where you want this VM to be stored. Enable thin disk mode if desired. Click on Next.
- Enter networking information and click Next.
- Review the settings and click Finish.
- When the installation is done, click Finish.
The PSC appliance installation will take 10-15 minutes. Once it is done, follow these instructions to continue the setup:
- Open a web browser and navigate to https://<PSC IP address>:5480.
- Click on the Setup Platform Services Controller Appliance link.
- Enter the root password from the preceding setup and click on Log in.
- Verify that stage 1 has completed and click Next.
- Enter NTP server(s). Review the network settings and change if necessary. Click on Next.
- Decide whether you want to join an SSO domain or create a new one. Fill out the SSO information. Click on Next.
- Decide whether you want to join Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) and click Next.
- Review the settings and click Finish.
This step will take another 5-10 minutes to complete. Once done, you will receive a notification and the appliance management page:
