To deploy the vCenter server, perform the following steps:
- Download VMware vCenter server and the modules for the Windows ISO file from http://www.vmware.com/download.
- Mount the ISO file once it is downloaded.
- Launch the autorun application in the root folder.
- Click on the vCenter server for Windows and then the Install button.
- Click on Next.
- Accept EULA, then click on Next.
- For the deployment type, click on the vCenter server under External Deployment. These steps assume that you have an external PSC instance; if you want to install the vCenter server with PSC, select the Embedded Deployment option:
- Verify the system name and click on Next.
- Enter the PSC FQDN and SSO administrator password of your PSC instance. Click on Next.
- Enter the vCenter server service account you want to use, then click on Next.
- Enter your database settings. We will be using the embedded PostgreSQL database. Click on Next.
- Verify the default ports and click on Next.
- Change the destination directories if desired and click on Next.
- Click on Install.
- This installation will take several minutes. When it is done, click on Finish.
