Filtering the data for shared resources with external users

The final step is to filter the CSV for the specific events that you are looking for. One thing you can do is filter on the TargetUserOrGroupType column to display all of the records where the value is Guest.

After you've formatted the data (either using Power Query or another tool), follow these steps:

  1. Open the formatted CSV file in Microsoft Excel (if you've just finished transforming the data with Power Query, you can go directly to the next step).
  2. From the Home tab, select Sort & Filter and click Filter.
  3. Select the Operation column. Then, select the Sort & Filter drop-down list.
  4. Clear all of the existing selections, select one or more the following sharing-related events, and click OK:
    • SharingInvitationCreated
    • AnonymousLinkCreated
    • SecureLinkCreated
    • AddedToSecureLink
  5. Select the TargetUserOrGroupType column and select the Sort & Filter drop-down list.
  6. Clear all of the existing selections, select TargetUserOrGroupType:Guest, and click OK.

The other method we can use is PowerShell, which we will look at in the next section.
