Many times, we prefer to write text in our favorite word processor instead of writing it in Moodle, or we find text that we can legally copy and paste into Moodle. Moodle's text editor does enable you to do this. You can choose from the default editor, Atto, or you can select TinyMCE from course settings. Both work well, but you may need to do a bit of clean up.

However, ensure that you keep in mind that Microsoft Word's various versions can do strange things to formatting. You may wish to strip out all the macros that create very clean text. You can use Notepad, or even Notepad++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org). After you've stripped out Microsoft's macros, you'll have to go back in and format (bold, underline), and you'll have to make your URLs live.

To paste text into a page, you can just use the keyboard shortcut. Try Ctrl + V for Windows PCs and command + V for Macintoshes. If you use this method, the format of the text will be preserved.
