PANAVISION Lenses to Suit the Script

The scene–by–scene choice of lenses can make an enormous difference to the way a story is told. PANAVISION has lenses in profusion.

PANAVISION Spherical Lenses

Top of the range of non-anamorphic lenses are the fantastic PRIMO-L series of lenses. Their undoubted superiority in definition, contrast, freedom from distortion and color balance between lenses makes them the No. 1 choice not only when the script demands crisp, gutsy images but also when the requirement is to produce soft and subtle images in conditions of harsh backlighting, diffusion and smoke.

The range of PRIMO-L fixed focal length lenses extends from 10mm to 150mm, 210mm with a PANAVISION matched range extender.

PRIMO zoom lenses are equal even to PRIMO fixed focal length lenses in image quality.

Of particular interest to the Director is the variety of special purpose PRIMO lenses. There is the distortion-free 10mm Wide Angle PRIMO-L lens. There are Close Focusing and Macro PRIMO lenses. Slant Focus PRIMO lenses and View Camera type lenses. There are 17.5 -75mm Wide Angle, normal 24.5 - 275mm 11:1 and 135 - 420mm Long Focal Length PRIMO zoom lenses. A Lightweight zoom lens especially designed and made for Steadicam and similar usage.

There are some extreme wide aperture lenses that almost see in the dark.

There is the PANAVISION/FRAZIER lens system, which does all manner of unique tricks, and so on.

PANAVISION Anamorphic Lenses

PANAVISION has long held a unique position in the supply of anamorphic lenses. No one else has ever come near and in recognition of this achievement PANAVISION Inc. was awarded an Oscar by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

With the introduction of the PRIMO range of Anamorphic lenses PANAVISION have well aligned themselves to remain in the lead well into the twenty-first century
