Depth of Field and Exposure Changes

In addition to the foregoing the SSII can be used to:

• Change the depth of field.

• Change the exposure by changing the shutter opening.

Depth of Field Change

• Set SSRB rotary switch to D.O.F.

• Set both the LOW and HIGH CAMERA SPEED settings to 24 fps.

• Set the LOW SHUTTER ANGLE setting to 200°.

• Set the HIGH SHUTTER ANGLE setting to 50°.

• Set the lens to T8 and hold the SSCB button for five seconds.

When operated the camera speed will remain constant, the shutter angle will change from 200° to 50° and the aperture will change from T8 to T4, giving less depth of field. Used the other way around it would increase the depth of field.

Exposure Change

Used on its own the adjustable shutter can be used either to increase or decrease exposure by up to two stops. Used in combination with the aperture the change can be up to four stops. For maximum effect:

• Set SSRB rotary switch to SHUT/APER ONLY.

• Set both the LOW and HIGH CAMERA SPEED settings to 24 fps.

• Set the LOW SHUTTER ANGLE setting to 50°.

• Set the HIGH SHUTTER ANGLE setting to 200°.

• Set the lens to T8 and hold the SSCB button for five seconds.

When operated the camera speed will remain constant, the shutter angle will change from 50° to 200° and the aperture will change from T8 to T4, giving four stops more exposure. Used the other way around it would decrease the exposure.
