The PANAVISION Pedestal System

There are many well documented reasons why a Producer might wish to shoot a purely TV show on film, of which the “look” and the archivability are but two, but when it comes to the actual shooting those involved may wish the process to “feel” more like the TV production process.

To meet these requirements PANAVISION have developed, and can supply, a complete multi–camera setup.

Typically it will consist of three or four PANAFLEX–X cameras, all with 2000’ magazines, using video viewfinders, focusing and zooming by panhandle controls and all mounted on video pedestals.

Special Facilities

For the Pedestal System setup PANAFLEX–X cameras are used as they give the brightest possible video viewfinder image and are fitted with a continuous image pellicle reflex system to ensure that the image is also flicker–free.

The 2000’ magazines enable just over 22 minutes of continuous filming, almost 30 minutes if the 3–PERF mode is used.

The FTZSAC Focus, T–Stop and Zoom control system is used together with a panhandle control unit to emulate video camera lens control.
