Remote Control Iris Systems

Various Iris Control units are available to remotely control lens apertures manually or electronically.

Manual Iris control

A simple mechanical iris control is available to adjust the aperture setting of a lens iris by means of a large control knob, much like a focus control. Like a focus control an extension cable can be fitted to the center of the knob if required.

Electronic Iris control

As already noted, an auxiliary motor may be used in combination with the Modular Follow Focus unit to electronically control the lens aperture setting.

As also noted, the FTZSAC lens control makes possible focus, T. Stop, Zoom and Speed/Aperture control all from one unit.

A separate T. Stop control, independent of the other controls, may be used if the DP wishes to alter exposure during the course of a shot while the Assistant is using the main unit to control other functions.

The T. Stop control can be used in combination with the camera FPS to create a change in camera speed without a change in exposure.
