Shipping Equipment Overseas

Whenever equipment is sent overseas, shipping lists, detailing the equipment’s description, serial number, country of origin, size, weight and value, etc., must be prepared in advance for the benefit of all the Customs Officers and Shipping Agents who are likely to be encountered along the way. The permutations of what items go together on any particular job are so vast that it is impossible to have shipping lists printed in advance but every detail is listed on PANAVISION’s mainframe computer so that any shipping list is only a keyboard away.

For equipment being exported temporarily to many countries the most convenient method of coping with the problems of Import/Export is to use an International Carnet de Passage, a sort of ‘Passport for Camera Equipment.’ PANAVISION is able to supply your Shipping Agent with all the necessary information to apply for such documentation.

Goods shipped to European EEC countries from elsewhere in the world require only customs clearance at their first point of entry and at their last point of exit. There are no customs requirements for goods shipped within the EEC.

It is vitally important to get the Carnet document stamped and signed when leaving a country to obtain proof of export (other than within the EEC going to another EEC country) or else the full amount of customs duty will be payable later.
