Accessory Box Attachment Plates
Attachment plates to allow Camera Assistants to attach their own ‘front’ boxes to the front of a PANAHEAD are available from the store at PANAVISION (the ‘PANASTORE’) and from their representatives worldwide.
An optional accessory for the PANAHEAD geared head is the PANABALL Leveller. This may be fitted between the tripod head and the PANAHEAD or used as a levelling hi-hat and stood, bolted or screwed directly to the ground or any flat surface.
To attach the PANAHEAD to the leveller tighten up the topmost of the two spoked handwheels set in the leveller.
To level or tilt the PANAHEAD, release the ball movement by turning the lower spoked handwheel in a clockwise direction. Adjust the level and re-tighten the lower handwheel.
The regular PANABALL leveller gives 15° of levelling and tilting movement. A 3° version is available to use in conjunction with a PANAVISION NODAL ADAPTOR which enables a PANAHEAD to be levelled or tilted about the nodal point of the camera lens.
If the flange onto which the PANABALL leveller is to be fitted is too wide the feet of the leveller may be removed.
Nodal Adaptor
Nodal adaptors are available to fit between a PANAFLEX camera and the PANAHEAD to place the entrance pupil of the lens in the center of the pan and tilt axes of the head.
To fit a nodal adaptor remove the tilt assembly from the PANAHEAD and fit the nodal adaptor in its place, using the slide facility to place the camera and lens in the correct position.
To set the entrance pupil of the lens on the nodal point of the head place two pointers in line in front of the camera, one close to and the other further away. Looking through the viewfinder the relative positions of the pointers should not move as the camera is panned and tilted. Move the camera backwards and forwards and up and down until there is no relative movement.
