Additional Camera Tilt, Up or Down

An adjustable tilt plate for exaggerated tilt up or down makes possible shots with the camera pointing 90° up or 90° down.

To Adjust the Tilt Plate for Additional Tilt Down

For additional tilt DOWN release the rear tilt plate locking lever that is just in front of the rear pan handle socket and press the safety catch at the rear of the tilt plate on the left. For small amounts of additional tilt, press in whichever of the three safety stops at the rear right hand side of the dovetail slideway is appropriate and lock the sliding block in such a manner that the safety stop remains in position. Greater amounts of tilt may be achieved by additionally pressing one of the three safety stops at the front and adjusting the forward block accordingly.

To Adjust the Tilt Plate for Additional Tilt Up

For additional tilt up loosen both the front and the rear tilt plate locking levers, depress either the front or back lower dovetail slide safety stops to release, slide out and reverse the entire tilt plate subassembly, reverse the camera attachment plate so that the entire subassembly operates in the opposite direction and proceed as for additional tilt DOWN.

The Panarock and the Panatilt Accessories

For additional tilt at ground level or close to any flat surface the PANAROCK and the PANATILT are two very useful accessories.

The PANAROCK is a semicircular shaped device which fits to the underside of a PANAFLEX camera and enables the camera to be positioned very close to the floor or other flat surface and tilted up and down in shot by a rocking motion.

The PANATILT is an adjustable wedge unit which may also be fitted to the underside of a PANAFLEX camera to give additional tilt movement in close proximity to a flat surface. The PANATILT unit provides a rather more rigid support than the PANAROCK and is not suitable for in–shot camera movements.
