Changing the Electronic Circuit Boards

A spare set of circuit boards is supplied with every PANAFLEX camera. PLATINUM PANAFLEXES have three circuit boards, the others all have four.

To gain access to the motor compartment where the circuit boards are located it is necessary to remove the motor cover.

Before removing the motor cover the power supply to the camera must first be disconnected and the battery cable removed. THE POWER SOURCE MUST BE DISCONNECTED BEFORE CIRCUIT BOARDS ARE CHANGED. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Removing the Motor Cover

The motor cover of a PLATINUM PANAFLEX may be removed by undoing the screws in each corner of the motor cover and removing it gently.

The motor covers of the GII and earlier PANAFLEXES are released by turning two locks which are accessed from inside the camera.

To unlock the motor cover, push the motor cover tool through two openings in the soundproof lining. One is directly below the pitch control knob in the bottom left-hand corner of the film compartment, the other is above the buckle switch on the right-hand side. To release, turn the locks counter-clockwise as far as they will go.

To remove the motor cover lift it slightly and then pull it out from the underside.

Changing the Circuit Boards

Release the spring loaded retainers from the circuit boards and remove ALL boards by holding by top and bottom and pulling straight out. Replace ALL boards.

Note: The edge connectors of all boards are different so that no board can be plugged into the wrong camera or the wrong position.

Replace the motor cover and tighten securely.

In the event that a set of boards are changed the complete set of discarded boards should be returned to PANAVISION Inc. or their Distributor speedily accompanied by a note detailing the circumstances that necessitated the change. PANAVISION Inc. or its Distributor will quickly supply a replacement set.
