The following is a list of independent Web sites of organizations that can provide further assistance and information in your work with Microsoft Project and project management:

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) www.pmi.org. Project Management Institute is a nonprofit professional organization for project managers. PMI establishes industry-recognized project management standards and provides training. PMI also sponsors the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, which is the most recognized professional credential for project managers. PMI publishes A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), which details generally accepted project management standards, practices, knowledge areas, and terminology.

  • MPA, The Official Industry Association for Microsoft Office Project www.mympa.org. MPA is an independent users group formed with the support and recognition of Microsoft. The Web site offers information about a variety of Microsoft Project and project management resources, with a goal to improve the understanding and use of Microsoft Project and related products. The site includes a calendar of MPA events, a directory of MPA chapters around the world, MPA blogs, and a job board.

  • Microsoft Project Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) http://project.mvps.org. This is a Web site maintained by Microsoft Project MVPs, who are "super users" recognized by Microsoft as providing exceptional service to the Microsoft Project user community. The site includes frequently asked questions and links to information about third-party project management products, including Microsoft Project add-ons and templates.
