Formatting options

There are many formatting options available including:

  • Predefined styles for paragraphs, characters, and headings
  • Inline spell checking and correction
  • Graphics that we can insert to create a variety of tables, charts, diagrams, and drawn items
  • Automatic creation of a table of contents, indexes, and footers and headers

Symphony shortcuts

There are certain keyboard shortcuts that we could use to make working with Symphony easier. The following table shows those:

Shortcut

Description

Ctrl + N

Creates a new document, presentation, or spreadsheet based on our current opened file type.

Esc

Terminates the action or dialog.

Ctrl + P

Opens the print dialog box.

Ctrl + X

Cuts out the selected highlighted area.

Ctrl + C

Copies the selected items.

Ctrl + V

Pastes from the clipboard.

Ctrl + A

Selects all.

Ctrl + Z

Undoes last action.

Ctrl + Y

Redoes last action.

Ctrl + F

Opens the find & replace dialog.

Ctrl + B

The bold font style is applied to the selected area. If the cursor is positioned in a word, this word is also put in bold.

Ctrl + I

The italic font style is applied to the selected area. If the cursor is positioned in a word, this word is also marked in italic.

Ctrl + U

The underline font style is applied to the selected area. If the cursor is positioned in a word, this word is also underlined.

F11

Opens the style list.
