Importing a CSV

Now that we have a CSV file ready to go, it's time to import that file:

  1. We can do this under WooCommerce | Products | Import, as shown in the following screenshot:

Now we get to go through the import process.

  1. Upload your file and choose whether you want to update existing products. New products will be skipped. This is a nice option when we only have a small selection of products on our site. Otherwise, I recommend leaving this option disabled.

You can see the settings for importing a file in the next screenshot:

The next step is the most important. Make sure that the data is imported into the right fields. If you used the exported WooCommerce CSV file, this should be pretty easy.

  1. Double-check the columns in the CSV (left) match the value in WooCommerce (right), which you can see in the following screenshot:

  1. Once you match all the columns, you can import the data. Click on import.

This might take a while depending on how many products you're importing. And if you link to a bunch of images in the CSV file, they will definitely take some time to import. Once you are done, you should see a screen about the import as follows:

You can view the log and see if any products were skipped or failed. If you want to update products, then you can go back to the beginning and click the checkbox to update existing products.

The trickiest part is making sure your data is mapped to the correct field in WooCommerce. If you can get that part correct, the rest of this process only takes a few minutes and the import will go smoothly.
